Shaking Up Albany
Read Daniel's 11-point plan to reform Albany: "REAL ACCOUNTABILITY, REAL DEMOCRACY"
Daniel knows that to deliver results in our district and our city, we need to change the way Albany does business.
That's why - in addition to his pledge to not take contributions from corporations, PACs or Albany lobbyists; to be a full-time legislator; and to support reasonable term limits so politicians don't treat elected office as entitlement - Daniel will fight for meaningful campaign finance reform. In today's broken system, the maximum contribution for State Senate candidates is almost three-and-a-half times greater than the maximum contribution for U.S. Presidential candidates. Corporations with multiple subsidiaries can contribute almost unlimited sums to state politicians. And lobbyists can spread exorbitant campaign contributions to push their agenda.
This creates a system in which government policies too often go to the highest bidder. Daniel pledges to remove the "For Sale" sign from the doors of the statehouse by fighting for meaningful campaign finance reform, such as the successful program currently in place in New York City.
Daniel will also fight every day to expand transparency and increase accountability in the legislative process through reasonable term limits and rules reform in the State Senate.
